DOR Learn to Earn

College is a wonderful option for many students graduating from high school, but it isn’t the only option. Many well-paying jobs are available that do not require two or four-year degrees, through apprenticeships and other on-the-job training options. The panel will work to dispel the myth that youth with disabilities that are not interested or not ready for college have to be relegated to low-skilled, minimum-wage jobs. Apprenticeships offer valuable paid on the job training and an opportunity to earn good wages plus benefits, and in addition to the traditional building trades are expanding into IT, health care, manufacturing, civil service and other fields.
