AVUHSD
Program Specialist
I found my passion for working with students with special needs in 1997 where I served as a para-professional at a Non-Public School in San Diego, CA. I completed my B.A. degree with an emphasis in special education and returned home to the Antelope Valley, where I was a graduate of the AVUHSD, to serve as a moderate/severe special education teacher. I continued my formal education with CSU Bakersfield, where I completed my education specialist teaching credential and my Master's Degree in Education during my tenure at Antelope Valley High School. After almost a decade at AVHS, I spent a year at Littlerock High School as a Teacher on Special Assignment (TSA) where I served the special education department to ensure educational benefit was provided to all students with special needs. Currently, I have spent the last eight years in the Student Services division of the District Office as a Program Specialist where I have the honor of supporting more than 3,000 students with special needs and their families in the Antelope Valley. Dedicating my career to turning obstacles into opportunities for students with special needs, I pursued my Doctorate Degree in Organizational Leadership with Brandman University and now how the honor of teaching future teachers in their credential program with Brandman University. I am committed to pushing the boundaries of what would be considered "typical" for students with special needs to access as educational pathways, and I am proud to stand alongside my colleagues of the AVUHSD as we pursue excellence in educational opportunities for ALL students! Believing Leads to Achieving!
